Planet: Responsibility

In the U.S. between 50,000 and 100,000 deaths per year are linked to air pollution, which exceeds the number deaths caused by automobile accidents.

Direct causes of air pollution related deaths include aggravated asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, lung and heart diseases, and other respiratory allergies. The US EPA estimates that a proposed set of changes in diesel engine technology and oil recycling (Tier 2) could result in 12,000 fewer premature mortalities, 15,000 fewer heart attacks, 6000 fewer emergency room visits by children with asthma, and 8900 fewer respiratory-related hospital admissions each year in the United States.

Every gallon of oil we recycle from you will prevent 26% of the Carbon Monoxide and 39% of the Particulate Matter associated with a gallon of standard diesel fuel from entering the air around us. It will also offset the Carbon Dioxide by 100%.
Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) is vegetable oil that has become unfit for food preparation.

Currently, most waste oil collection services use the oil they collect as animal feed additive. While this is a reuse of something normally considered a waste product, it isn’t being put to its most productive use and isn’t contributing to the wellbeing of the community.
